Annual Convocation held at Sidhwan Khurd

The Annual Convocation of Khalsa College for Women and G.H.G Harparkash College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd was held here on March 16, 2011.The chief guest was Honorable Dr. Manohar Singh Gill, Union Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Government of India. The chief guest was given a warm welcome at K.C.W, Sidhwan Khurd. The Garlanding Ceremony to Honor the Founder of Sidhwan Institutions Bhai Sahib Bhai Narain Singh Ji was done by the chief guest. After this Dr.Gill interacted with the staff members. The President of the Trust Capt. S.Dalbara Singh, Secretary S.Surjeet Singh,Dr. Khem Singh Gill ex-V.C. P.A.U Ludhiana Dr. Nayar Principal Law collage Sidhwan ,S. Mukand SIngh Sandhu SDM Jagraon,S. Harbans Singh, S. Ashok Singh Garcha and S. Jagjit Singh Ghungrana also graced the occasion with their presence. The Convocation was declared open by the Principal K.C.W. Dr. Mrs.Paramjit Kaur.This was followed by a formal welcome of the chief guest and presentation of the Annual Report by the Principal of Education College Dr. Mrs. Baljit Kaur. 250 students of B.Ed and 25 students of M.Ed of G.H.G. Harparkash College of Education were conferred Degrees. After this the Principal K.C.W. presented the Annual Report of the college. 292 students of various streams were conferred Degrees. The Role of Honor was given to eight students. Prizes were also given to twenty one students who topped their respective classes in the annual examinations held by the Panjab University in April 2010. The chief Guest Dr. M.S. Gill in his address emphasized on the issue of women literacy and liberation and eulogized the Sidhwan Institutions for their incredible contribution towards providing education to the foundation of any society that is the girl child. The vote of thanks was given by the Principal KCW Dr. (Mrs.) Paramjit Kaur and the convocation was declared closed by the Principal of College of Education Dr. (Mrs.) Baljit Kaur. The award of honor to the chief guest was presented by the President and members of the Trust along with the Principals of both the colleges. The convocation ended with National Anthem.

Alumini Meet and Farewell Hosted

Khalsa College for Women Sidhwan Khurd hosted Alumini meet and Farewell Party on March 11, 2011. The Chief Guest was Mrs. Jagdish Kaur, Principal Sikh Girl Senior Secondary School, Sidhwan Khurd. Guest of honor was Mrs. Surinderpal Kaur, Sudhar and other esteemed guests to grace the occasion were Prof. Kamaljeet Kaur, Prof. Harinder Kaur Sohi and Dr. Harpreet Kaur Bedi. Prof. Savinderpal welcomed all the guests. A cultured programme was also organised to add the hue to the function. Prof. Kamaljit Kaur Samby, Prof. Harinder Kaur and Prof. Surinderpal Kaur, all aluminis of the college, shared their experiences with everyone. Principal Dr. Mrs. Paramjit Kaur honored all the esteemed guests. She also thanked them for sparing time to grace this occasion.

Seminar On International Womens Day Organized
Khalsa College for Women Sidhwan Khurd and Legal Services Authority sub -division Jagraon jointly organized a seminar on International Women Day in the college campus on March 8, 2011.The chief guest was madam Girish Bansal ,Civil Judge Jagraon and Chairperson Legal Services Authority sub-division Jagraon and the guest of honor was S.Ravi Inder Singh, Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate Jagraon. The president of the Bar Association Jagraon and some members of the bar were also present on the occasion .The principal of the college Dr. Mrs.Paramjit Kaur formally welcomed all the esteemed guests. Sh.Preetinder Kaushal (President Bar Association jagraon),S.R.S.Toor(Ex.President Bar Association Jagraon),Sh.M.S.Sehgal ,Sh.Sandeep Gupta ,S.S.S.Gindra,Sh.A.K.Bhardwaj and S.J.S.Buttar shared their views regarding rights and duties of women.This was followed by a healthy discussion .The Principal Dr.Mrs.paramjit kaur honored the chief guest and the guest of honor.The principal also gave the vote of thanks.

Annual Prize Distribution Organized

Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd organized Annual Prize Distribution function on 27 Feb, 2011. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. Daljit Singh, Senior Director Doordrashan Kendra Jalandhar and the guest of honor was S. Agyapal Singh Randhawa, Programme Executive (news). The worthy President of Trust Capt. S. Dalbara Singh, Secretary S. Surjit Singh and Principal Dalla College Dr. Kuldeep Kaur graced the occasion with their presence. The Chief Guest and other esteemed guests were formally welcomed by the Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Paramjit Kaur. The annual report of the college was read by the Principal .The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to students excelling in academic, cultural, literary and sports activities. On this occasion 25 students were awarded “College color”. A cultural programme was also presented to amuse the audience. The president of the Trust Capt. S. Dalbara Singh and Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Paramjit Kaur honored the esteemed guests. The chief guest while addressing the audience appealed eradication of disparity between man and woman. He also said that women can bring about a major change in society.He also eulogized the founders of Sidhwan institutions for their contribution in spreading education among the girls of the region. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Paramjit Kaur thanked all the guests.

Sidhwan Educational Institutions’ Annual Athletic Meet

The 53rd combined Annual Atheletic Meet of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd and its sister institutions, GHG Harparkash College of Education and Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School was held here on February 12, 2011.The Chief guest was S. Hardeep Singh Kingra ,IFS Special Officer Sports Authority of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports ,the Guest of Honor was Sh. Sohan Lal Lotey, Deputy Director Sports ,Punjab Government.The State Co-ordinator SAI ,Ludhiana S. Harbans Singh was also present .The President of the Trust Capt. S.Dalbara Singh, Secretary S. Surjeet Singh,Manager Mrs.Shivinder Sidhu, Principals of all the three Institutions, Ex-Principal Dr. Madanjeet Kaur Sahota ,Mrs. Harjeet Kaur President and S. Jaswant Singh member Shri Ganga Giri Janta Girls College, Raikot graced the occasion with their presence .The Chief guest and other esteemed guests were formally welcomed by Principal of KCW, Dr. Mrs. Paramjit Kaur .After the flag hoisting ceremony the contingents of the Institutions staged March Past and the chief guest took the salute .This was followed by lighting of the torch ,oath taking ceremony and PT show .The various track and field events organized were -50 meter race, 100 meter race , 200 meter race ,400 meter race,4×100 meter relay race ,shot put ,Hammer Throw ,Javelin Throw, Long Jump, High Jump and Triple Jump. The esteemed guests honored the winners of all these events. On this occasion Khalsa College For Women’s National Level players in Kho-Kho – Gurpreet Kaur, Manpreet Kaur Dharni, Kamalpreet Kaur, Sandeep Kaur, Narinder Kaur and Harpinder Kaur;National level players in Kabaddi- Kirandeep Kaur ,Mandeep Kaur and Davinder Kaur were also honored by the chief guest. Miss Gurpreet Kaur BA-III year student of KCW , Kanchan Sharda of College of Education and Jaspreet kaur of Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School were adjudged the best athletes.This Annual Athletic Meet was the joint effort of Mrs. Swarna Saini , Mrs. Sapinderjeet Kaur and Miss Manpreet Kaur .

Sidhwan College Organizes Lecture on Career Guidance

Under the guidance of Principal Dr. Mrs. Paramjeet Kaur, the Career, Guidance and Counseling Cell of Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd organized a lecturer on “Career Opportunities: Future Scenario in India” ,on Feb7,2011.On this occasion the eminent scholar Dr. G.S. Bajwa shared his valuable views with the students and enlightened them. Dr Bajwa is Director Rayat and Bahra College of Law, Mohali and former Director IAS and Allied Services Training Institute, Punjabi University Patiala. Dr. Bajwa emphasized on the need for women to be more career oriented. Vice Principal of the college Mrs. Gurinder Sandhu welcomed the eminent speaker, Dr. Bajwa and Mrs. Swaranjeet Kaur proposed the vote of thanks.
